Writes BBC commentator Jonathan Legard in his blog ahead of this weekend’s Korean Grand Prix:

“Vettel has admitted he’s felt much more comfortable in the car since new software was installed to enable smoother power delivery through the double diffuser to accelerate out of corners.”

Doesn’t that just fill you with apathy? I want drivers to be excited about an engine tweak, or a new bit of carbon fibre, or improved weight distribution. Something nice and physical. I don’t want to hear about a software upgrade.

I realise that software has a huge role to play in Formula 1, and I’m sure it’s terribly sophisticated and impressive. But I want to conveniently forget all about that, and pretend it’s just a driver, a couple of pedals and a steering wheel.

In short: DON’T SPOIL MY BLISSFUL IGNORANCE.
