There’s no doubt that Johnny Herbert’s debut in the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone on Sunday is going to be fascinating. He tested with Team Dynamics again on Monday, and says he’s starting to get to grips with the Honda Civic. He’s also making all the usual noises about targeting wins and podiums, though he’s being realistic:
Herbert was less than a second off James Thompson’s pace at the Rockingham test in July, so I reckon he’s prepared in terms of outright pace. But what about tin top race craft? Herbert’s words are not encouraging:
What he’s done there is let all the other drivers know that they can bully him on the track, and he won’t be able to fight back. Not clever, Johnny. Not clever at all. But you never know. Maybe it’s a cunning double bluff, and he’s been practising hard on Destruction Derby for the PlayStation. We shall find out at the weekend. Post a comment
