Tyres certainly play a part in making Formula 1 interesting. Interesting because different tyres suit different cars, drivers, set-ups and so on at different times. Variety is that there spice of life. Bridgestone’s Hirohide Hamashima has said something very similar about the Spa race, and also looking ahead to Monza. But at the same time, Hamashima also demonstrated that a single tyre supplier means that the interest is rather artificial. That is, there are different compounds pretty much for the sake of it. And that aspect is very confusing, and rather dull:
