With that title I’m not referring to Karun Chandhok having recently driven South Korea’s new Formula 1 circuit – a video of which James Allen has thrown up on YouTube – and the rumours, which might now stop, that the Korean Grand Prix won’t happen this year.

No, what I enjoy is seeing Formula 1 written about in unexpected places. Like Round & About, a free magazine round my way, which mainly consists of an esoterically written events listings section, accurately titled Disjointed Ramblings.

But it also has the odd feature article, including earlier this year, a British Grand Prix preview. It’s a perfectly good article – you can still read it online here – just unexpected in that particular publication.

Perhaps even more surprisingly, I found Formula 1 news nestling on page 7 of the spring/summer 2010 edition of Kingsdown News, the Arkell’s Brewery newsletter, which only recently popped through my letterbox – and at the time of writing is still available as a PDF.

Thankfully the Swindon brewery hasn’t signed an ill-advised sponsorship deal with HRT, but rather a former Williams mechanic has taken on an Arkell’s pub. That news ranks alongside the Cirencester pub which also offers beauty treatments.

Proof, if proof be needed, that Formula 1 is of sufficiently general interest to feature in even the most specialised publications.
