I’m finding it hard to keep up with who’s in and who’s out for Formula 1 in 2010. But by my calculations the FIA has more new entries than there are FOTA teams, which have lodged conditional entries. These are the confirmed new entries:

That’s ten, compared to nine conditional entries from FOTA teams.

There were a few other teams mentioned in the FIA / Ferrari court case. Of those, RML definitely isn’t entering, and we’ve not heard much more about Wirth Research or iSport.

But the point is, with Williams, there are enough teams for a championship. Plus it’s believed that, like Williams, Ferrari doesn’t have much choice about entering.

So what are the other teams going to do? No-one really knows, because the teams have gone rather quiet. Doubtless questions will be asked, and probably dodged, in Turkey this weekend.

But Max Mosley is remaining firm on not compromising on the budget cap. So it very much remains to be seen.

For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose one or more of Toyota, BMW, Renault and the Red Bull teams. But most of this season’s teams will still be there next year.
