I should have written about this earlier when I heard about it, but I was looking for a video with English commentary. I didn’t find one.

I’m talking about Franz Engstler crashing into the safety car at the start of the second WTCC race in Pau on Sunday, footage of which is now sweeping YouTube.

I’ll share this version of events with you though, since it has lots of angles, and more importantly has been put to the soundtrack of ‘Down On The Corner’ by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Since the weekend, it’s been established that the crash was the fault of the safety car crew. They were French, so you can pop over to the Eurosport article for comments about ‘frog drivers’.

Meanwhile, we’ll have to wait until 2.25pm on Saturday to see how Martin Haven deals with it on the ITV4 highlights.
