The 2009 Formula 1 grid is sort of fully formed, with Sebastien Bourdais now confirmed at Scuderia Toro Rosso. Which, delightfully, means I correctly predicted both Toro Rosso drivers: Bourdais to retain his seat in November, and that Sebastien Buemi would step up from GP2 in July. Fully formed, that is, if Honda Racing doesn’t find a buyer. If it does – which Max Mosley guesses is about 70 percent likely – we’ll presumably see Jenson Button and one other. Bruno Senna has ruled himself out of GP2 to chase a Formula 1 opportunity; Takuma Sato is still keen to get back into Formula 1 despite being passed on by Toro Rosso; and presumably Rubens Barrichello has nothing else planned for next year. Surely there has to be an announcement soon – it’s only 48 and a bit days to the Australian Grand Prix. In related news, Max Mosley agrees with me that the Formula 1 grid will be completely full for the 2010 season. But unlike me, he correctly remembered that there can be up to 12 teams and 24 cars, not 11 and 22. So I’m not always right, sadly. Post a comment
