Will the BBC resurrect Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain as the theme tune for their Formula 1 coverage? It’s a question that’s been asked endlessly since they bagged the rights last year.

With no official word, it’s been left to online debate. Some people think it belongs to a darker time, and should be left well alone; but for what seems like the majority, it is inextricably linked with Formula 1, and it would be nothing short of heresy if we hear anything else before the Australian Grand Prix in March.

So I thought I’d ask the BBC for an official word. Unsurprisingly, they’re saying nothing. Surprisingly, they bothered to tell me that they’re saying nothing – so that was nice of them, at least.

Personally, my money’s on a remix of The Chain. By Gorillaz. Or Fat Boy Slim. Someone you’ll have heard of, anyway. In any case, it can’t be worse than ITV using Jamiroquai.
