So it turns out that Channel 4 have got highlights of the British Superbike Championship this year. The first round highlights were on last night, so I’m giving you plenty of notice as usual. More on that when I actually get around to watching the programme.

But it’s starting to get tricky to find all the Freeview motorsport coverage, what with ITV1, BBC TWO, ITV4, Dave, Five, Five US and Channel 4 all showing stuff at various times. At least the live stuff is easy to find.

Which reminds me: GP2 is going to be shown live on ITV4 this year. Good news! Charlie Webster – a lady person – will be presenting. David Croft – who does Formula 1 for the BBC – will apparently be commentating, presumably with a pal, but I’ve no idea who. I rather enjoyed Gareth Rees’s slightly botched – but thoroughly informed – efforts on Eurosport in recent years, but sadly he’s not making the move.

So yes, the live stuff is easy enough to find: Formula 1 on ITV1; MotoGP on BBC TWO; BTCC, FIA GT Championship and now GP2 on ITV4; WRC – as live as rally coverage tends to be – on Dave. At least five and five US have consistent scheduling: overnight, and 3pm and 7pm respectively.

But catching the WTCC on ITV4 and BSB on Channel 4 is going to take considerable concentration. I only stumbled on the BSB coverage yesterday because I happened to look at the guide at the right time.

Ah, the tough life of a motorsport obsessive.
